I'm obsessed with black & white movies. What i like about them is the use of light and shadows. Back in the days there was only black & white film so to enhance the mood of the scene, the only thing they had was the light and set up.
Simply because there was no color film! I have studied a lot of old movies just because of this. If you want to know what i'm talking about, just grap some popcorn and watch some old school movies like Casablanca, Citizen Kane or The grapes of wrath.

This series of images, captured with the Fujifilm XT1 & 35mm F/1.4mm has convinced me that Fujifilm is a really good match compared to my Canon 5D3 when it comes to capturing portraits! It really has start me thinking to sell all my Canon gear!
Why? Well, first of all, this little 35mm 1.4 lens really rocks my camera and is even sharper than my Canon 50L! Secondly, it's really amazing when it comes to photograph with very low light and at a high ISO. Thirdly, and to me the most amazing thing about Fuji: it saves me so, so much time in post! Why? Well, these images are all JPG's converted to BW in camera using the BW+R filter that comes with the Fuji! So i basically shot all of these images in BW and uploaded the JPG's straight to my blog! How amazing is that!
When shooting the Canon 5D3, I always exclusively shoot in RAW, than upload them to my MAC, bring them in to ACR, convert them into BW, save them as JPG before i finally can put them om my blog! So you can see that the Fujifilm is a real time saver! And this is why i love Fuji so very much! <3
All images are shot with artificial light only. By placing my little girl in the bright and small light source coming from the hallway behind me, the white background and curtains will turn out black and the clutter becomes invisible. You can see a pullback of my set up in the last image.
Hope you are enjoying this series.
